Best way to lighten and highlight hair naturally

If you think only chemicals can lighten and highlight your naturally hair, then you are wrong. Actually, you can totally do it by yourself, with natural ingredients that the nature offers. The most popular DIY hair highlighters are lemon juice, baking soda, salt and staying in sun. But too much of any of them can be drying and/or damaging to your hair.

Today we will show you the way to make your hair fabulous in highlight and lightening with available ingredients.

In this recipe, you will need chamomile and lime peel tea. Brew these two ingredients together, besides, you can also add some other herbs such as mullein or calendula to create blond hair tones.

  • 1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers
  • 1 teaspoon lime peel
  • 1 ½ cups water

Optional add-ins

  • 1 teaspoon calendula flowers
  • 1 teaspoon oat straw
  • 1 teaspoon light (almond, grape seed oil)

Here is how to make it:

First of all, boil the water and then reduce the heat. Add chamomile and lime peel into the pot. Let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it cool down. That’s it.

How to use:

There are two ways that you can use this mixture:

The first way is to pour the mixture on your wet hair and give your scalp a nice massage for about 15 minutes. The rinse if of and let your hair dry naturally. If you are patient and keep using this method for a while, it will subtly lighten the colour of your hair and bring out natural highlights.

The second way to use this mixture is pour this infusion into a spray bottle and spray your hair and scalp. Repeat the activity every day. Another reminder is to keep it in the fridge to make sure it stays fresh during the week. If t is well maintained, it can last for 2 weeks or so.

If you have ever had the idea of using lime juice to replace lime peel then stop that thought. It can be harmful to your hair if you keep using it for a period of time. It can dry out your hair and even make it turn rough over time. Also, if you want to choose between lime and lemon, choose lime, as it is more beneficial for the hair. If you are busy and don’t have a lot of time to prepare lime peel every singe time you use it, then make it into powder in order to keep it for a longer time. You can make your own lime/lem on peel powder by simply drying out the peels and then grind them in the grinder. Or you can also buy it on the department store as the alterative choice.

So this is one of the effective trick that you might find it interesting. It is simple but it works very well actually. Besides, it is natural so it is safe and you don’t have to worry that chemicals will damage or strip off your hair at all.
